:::Repair
and Modify:::
By doing a Modify over a Repair - The Modify will
replace all *.dll files whether they need replaced or not (SW08
and future versions you must change something to do this process).
A Repair only repairs certain *.dll files that it finds and thinks
it needs to be replaced.
As of SW08 most repairs and modifies are done through
the Install Manager. You will either love it or hate it. I peronsally
hate at the moment. Its getting better, but still I have more problems
than clean installs, especially if you download then install.
SW08 and future versions
Repair:
1) You can still go to the Control panel Add &
remove programs and click "Change"
2) The install manager will start up.
3) After all the connections stop it should bring you to a location
of the serial number. Under that you should see something that looks
like a URL and it says "Repair this installation"
4) If you click that you start the repair, just follow the menus
until you get to one that gives you a button that says "install"
- Click it.
Modify:
1) Repeat steps 1-3
2) Instead of click "Repair this installation" in step
3, click Next in the menu
3) You must change something, either the serial number or the add-ins,
or the Modify will not work like it used to in the passed.
This method is not as good as it used to be in earlier
versions.
